Dr. Jacquelynn Cunliffe

PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPIST AND PSYCHOANALYST

04_cunliffe_jacquelynn_web-1I received my doctoral education at the University of Pennsylvania, with a specialty in the Psychology of Human Development. I continued my studies at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, completing post-professional tracts in both child and adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I also hold a masters degree in nursing and I am certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse (BC-RN). I am continuing to advance my practice as a psychoanalyst at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. Analytic training is an intensive program preparing the clinician to specialize in the treatment of psychological issues and the healing of the mind through psychoanalysis (Please see section on treatment descriptions).

Personal Statement

Website photo 2I provide individual psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in an inviting, private, and relaxed environment, designed to be a contemplative and safe space. My style of practice is client-centered and tailored to the unique needs of each person. Your voice will be heard and listened to with an emphasis on care, compassion, and confidentiality. Mindfulness-based techniques are also used to increase a person’s self-compassion and self-acceptance. These attributes are very helpful as an individual begins the work toward improving relationships, feeling better about him/herself and creating a new and more joyful future.

DSCF0357I treat a variety of mental health issues, which are often born out of unsatisfying or disappointing early relationships or trauma. Early trauma or disappointments can leave an individual feeling unworthy or unlovable, directionless or hopeless, angry or disillusioned. I am committed to exploring all aspects of my patients’ lives, with the intention of building upon their strengths and understanding and working on perceived vulnerabilities. I offer flexibility with regard to scheduling appointments in order to accommodate work and school limitations.

08062015133138_DSCF0433I believe the mind has an immeasurable capacity to heal. Through the therapeutic relationship, we will work together to create a trusting alliance where healing can occur.  This healing process includes a better understanding of the issues that are currently troubling you and are interrupting your relationships, your work, and/or your life in general.  You will gain understanding about why you see yourself the way you do and you will discover paths toward greater life satisfaction and self-love.
